The Marketing Employer of the Year survey, carried out by Marketing magazine and Stopgap recruitment, saw Redmandarin come second out of 330 companies. The sponsorship consultancy got an impressive 91.9 per cent in the poll, where marketing employees were asked to vote on how they see their company.

The questions covered management style, brand values, benefits, career development, internal communication, culture and working environment, offering an insight into what makes a good employer.

Marketing suggested that a quality employer, as seen through the eyes of its staff, increases pride in the workplace. Managers, too, have an open-minded attitude to keeping employees happy. “Great leaders have a mixture of personal humility and a professional will to succeed. Managers need to be genuinely interested, caring and committed to the pe ople who work for them. It can be simple things like saying hello and knowing when someone’s birthday is,” said Claire Owen, managing director of Stopgap.

Redmandarin’s overall position meant it also came top amongst agencies. “I wanted a place which people felt a part of, where they could contribute to the success of the business with no prima donna's. I’m very proud of what we have,” said Sally Hancock, Chief Executive.
